Amy Mueller, LCSW is Clinical Social Worker and Mental Health Coordinator for the Marie and Raymond Beauregard Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center at Hartford Hospital, Hartford CT. She received her Master of Social Work from Smith College in 1992 and was a psychotherapist, manager and supervisor in clinical mental health settings until joining the adult CF team in 2005. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, she established the mental health screening and services program in specialty CF care and completed certificate programs in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, tele-behavioral health and CF-CBT training to improve access to mental health care for the adult CF community. Her collaboration with the Center's adult CF community includes facilitation of the CF Adult Advisory Board, quality improvement of the CF clinic and coordination of transition of patients from pediatric to adult CF care. Mrs. Mueller was a member of the International Guidelines Committee on Mental Health in CF (ICMH) that published the recommendations for depression and anxiety screening, now a worldwide standard of care in CF. Since 2017, she has served on the CF Foundation’s Mental Health Advisory Committee (MHAC); as the Lead of the MHAC’s Consultation Subcommittee, she is responsible for the development of numerous practice support tools for CF care teams, guides for the CF community and the CF Mental Health Peer Consultation Group Program, a support network of CF mental health professionals across the U.S. and parts of Canada. She is a longtime speaker and co-chair at the Annual North American CF Conference, has authored and co-authored articles in several professional journals as well as a book chapter in “Facing Cystic Fibrosis: A Guide for Patients and Their Families”. She has received two major national and international awards: the “CF Social Worker of the Year” in 2019 from the CF Social Work and Nutrition Consortium and in 2021, the “Carolyn and C. Richard Mattingly Leadership in Mental Health Care Award” from the CF Foundation for leadership and commitment to the mental health and well-being of individuals with CF.
