Rafael E. Hernandez completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Washington and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases and a Principal Investigator and Attending Physician at Seattle Children's. He provides clinical care for patients with complex infections in cooperation with the Seattle Children's Cystic Fibrosis Center and also attends on the general infectious diseases service. His research interests focus on understanding how mycobacteria interact with their host environment and on developing better treatement strategies for treatement of mycobacterial pathogens.
