CF-causing variants can elicit a number of defects in CFTR biogenesis such as mRNA degradation, polypeptide truncation, protein misfolding, and aberrant channel gating. Moreover, impact of cellular heterogeneity on dysfunction and rescue of mutant CFTR remains poorly understood. This workshop reports novel therapeutic targets for alleviating CFTR premature termination codons and processing variants, together with new approaches for studying mucosal cell biology and precision medicine.
