Nemours Children's Hospital Delaware
Lauren Greenawald, DO is the CF associate Center Director at Nemours Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She was born and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and spent her training and career in the surrounding area. She attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed residency at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children's Hosptial in Allentown, PA and completed pulmonary fellowship at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware. She spent time as a CF associate director at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children's hospital where she focused on improving the sweat chloride testing process and restructuring a multidisciplinary CF clinic. After returning to Nemours Children's Hospital this past year, she assumed a larger role in the research and program development related to Newborn screening and sweat chloride testing and its implications for our infants and families overall.
Cystic fibrosis is the reason Dr. Greenawald chose to become a Pediatric Pulmonologist; she loves working with CF families and watching iour CF children grow into amazing adults. Since fellowship, Dr. Greenawald has focused on CFTR modulator therapies and their real-world implications primarily related to respiratory, infectious and nutritional outcomes. Through this research she has had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues nationwide and learn the practices of other CF physicians which has enhanced her practice and patient care. With recent genetic advancements and knowledge of Cystic Fibrosis as a disease process growing from year to year, she has had ongoing educational opportunities and the chance for continued improvement, an aspect of her medical career that she finds very rewarding. This is a great time to be working in CF medicine with the significant advancements and improvements for treatment and diagnosis, Dr Greenawald feels lucky to be part of such a great community!
