Jessica Balcom, MS, CGC is a licensed, board certified genetic counselor supervisor and Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in the College of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Jessica obtained her Masters degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Minnesota in 2010 and began her career at Mayo Clinic supporting the molecular diagnostic laboratory. She currently supervises a team of over 20 laboratory genetic counselors, genetic counseling assistants, and variant scientists at Mayo. Jessica developed the genetic counselor role in Mayo's CF Center and has over 10 years of CF specialty experience. Jessica has served as the chair of the CF Special Interest Group of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, presented and moderated sessions at NACFC, and contributed to the CFF Screening Improvement Program grant-funded initiative to develop consensus guidelines for access to genetic counseling for families of CF NBS positive infants.
