Jessica Alvarez, PhD, RD is an Associate Professor at Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Lipids, and Metabolism. She is a registered dietitian with a Master's in Clinical Nutrition and PhD in Nutrition Sciences (University of Alabama-Birmingham). Her research integrates many aspects of nutrition and endocrine research, including rigorous clinical trials, nutritional status assessment, body composition and fat distribution analysis, high-resolution metabolomics, analysis of dietary intake, and assessment of glucose tolerance in people with CF and other chronic diseases. She has been steadily funded by the CFF and NIH. She is currently the Co-Director of the NIH-funded P30 Nutrition, Lifestyle, and Behavior Research Core of the Georgia CF Research and Translation Core Center. She was as a member of the 2020 Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Workgroup for the Development of Nutrition Guidelines in CF. The goal of her research program is to gain a deep understanding of the role of diet and nutrition on CF clinical outcomes in order to improve nutrition standard of care for lifelong health and quality of life.
